Heliconia longissima is relatively new to Australia, we have imported the seed in. It is a very vigorous large grower with long pendulous flowers that get to well over a meter in length. The stems are a mustard brown color and the leaves have a semi waxy back making this an outstanding landscaping plant in the tropics.

Hi Gary, thank you so much for letting us know. Because this a newer one that we imported in via seed I don't have a lot of info on it's growing requirements. So pleased it made it through a Gold Coast winter. Please let us know how it goes on flowering. Ours took about 4 years to flower but was well worth the wait, the flowers are spectacular.
