Kawauchi is a widely cultivated heliconia throughout the world both as a cutflower and as a landscaping plant. It is relatively cold hardy and will grow all the way down to Coastal Sydney in a protected microclimate. Main flowering is during the spring and summer. Another easy grower recommended for novice growers. Does best with good drainage and is widely used in SE Qld as a landscaping heliconia.
