Camellia sinensis is the plant grown for commercial tea production. You can easily grow and harvest your own tea from this attractive compact shrub with glossy leaves. Can also be used as a hedge; the small white camillia like flowers are scented.
To process tea pluck teas and buds, slow dry and put through a mincer. Store in a cool dry place. Every year the bush should be pruned back to keep it at a comfortable height for harvesting.
