Calatheas are a genus of plants native to to the Tropical Americas and are related to heliconias and gingers. They are popular as house plants due to their colourful leaves but also can make great plants for tropical landscaping in the garden. They are also great for large pots in courtyard gardens.
Some calatheas like calathea lutea are large growing, will take a fair bit of sun and are useful in creating a good microclimate; but in general you will find they do best in part shade with warm temperatures and high humidity.
We've concentrated our selection of calatheas to ones we feel are excellent tropical landscaping plants. WE've also added a few of their cousins the cenathes.
