Summary of Landscaping Work Undertaken
The clients were interested in integrating their garden with the existing rainforest. The backyard was a super steep slope that restricted access for one of the clients that was mobility challenged. The steep slope made the area unusable.
They had consulted previously with another landscaping company that suggested turfing the slope. We suggested that rather than turfing the slope which would be difficult to mow and still unusable, that the clients let us terrace the site using natural stone retaining walls and that a ramp be built from the back deck down to the garden. Medium stones were used in keeping with the scale of the backyard. Lots of unusual, thought provoking plants were used (we felt that this was in keeping with their personalities) as well as plenty of natives and torch gingers. The overall effect was garden that blended in and was enhanced by it's rainforest setting.
The clients were so pleased they subsequently had us add more garden beds and invited us to their wedding celebration.
